“Of all the arts, abstract painting is the most difficult. It demands that you know how to draw well, that you have a heightened sensitivity for composition and for colours, and that you be a true poet. This last is essential. ”
– Wassily Kandinsky
My computer has been out of action for a few days (a week) and I miss her. Unfortunately it will be a few more before I can get her back working as she should.
This picture continues my series of self portraits, this time in a contemplative mood – quite different from the last (and indeed Number 7 which I’m working on at the moment).
I’ve tried to bring in some Kandinsky precepts; colour opposites, vertical and slightly off-vertical lines to give the impression of stability and warmth. Whether it satisfies requirements for true poetry is another matter!
very nice! i love the quote and agree totally; the last abstract i attempted was horrid – a group project which i am now trying to ‘fix.’
while uploading a video that is taking hours, i’m catching up on a little reading while in town! z
Lisa, you have the soul of a poet. Stay with it. Tony
Colour and design wise this is stunning. But I’m still looking for the fedora! Hey, just found it don’t know how I missed it now.
Thankyou lee. There’s a bit of poetic license there – the fedora was an Akubra, but the alliteration seemed important. Tony
This is great, I like the expression and colours!
You are very kind, thankyou. Tony
